This scheme is open to BRIN researchers from all research organizations and centers. The Principal Investigator (PI) must hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate a relevant academic and research track record. Research teams may include members from universities, business entities, or independent institutions, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. All team members must show relevant experience through their research portfolio. Each individual may participate in up to two proposals—either as a PI in one proposal and a member in another, or as a member in both.

Proposals must align with the specified themes and subtopics, excluding any nuclear-related topics. The research plan must be feasible within the given timeframe and submitted in English using the provided template. Proposals must be signed by the institution’s authorized official and include a detailed budget in accordance with cost standards under the Minister of Finance and BRIN regulations. Curriculum vitae for all team members must be submitted using the prescribed format. All required documents must be complete, original, and submitted on time. Prior to implementation, the PI must secure research ethics clearance via the Research Ethical Clearance system (https://klirensetik.brin.go.id/).

For Stage B, proposals must involve joint collaboration between BRIN or an Indonesian company and a Japanese partner (university, research institute, or company), with the aim of applying for NEDO support. Collaboration with Indonesian companies is highly encouraged to increase the project’s impact. BRIN researchers working with foreign researchers must also ensure both research ethics clearance and a Foreign Researcher Permit are obtained through the same system.
