NEDO Batch 4 Stage A - Trend research in the technical field that contributes to net-zero emission in Indonesia

This research will identify and analyze various technological fields that can contribute to achieving net-zero emissions in Indonesia. The themes to be explored include, but are not limited to:

  1. Battery technology for EV (4-wheel and 2-wheel), including standardization.
  2. Biomass power generation.
  3. Biomass gasification.
  4. Bioethanol.
  5. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
  6. Synthetic fuels.
  7. Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
  8. Ammonia co-firing.
  9. Hydrogen.
  10. Energy management systems for islands (with a special focus on Sumba Island).

The research will also examine:

  • Government policies related to these areas.
  • Trends and challenges in technological development.

Relevant trends in standardization, where applicable

1. Applicant

  • The scheme is open to BRIN researchers from all research organizations and their respective research centers.
  • The Principal Investigator (PI) must hold a doctoral degree, with a relevant academic and research track record.
  • The research team may include members from other research institutions such as universities, business entities, or independent institutions, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • All team members must demonstrate relevant experience, supported by a research portfolio.
  • A team member may participate in up to two proposals (as a PI in one proposal and a member in another, or as member in both proposals).
     

2. Proposal Requirements

  • The proposed research must align with the designed themes and subtopics outlined in the call. Note: Proposals involving nuclear-related topics will not be accepted.
  • The research plan must be feasible within the allocated timeframe.
  • Proposals must be submitted in English using the provided template.
  • Proposals must be formally signed by the authorized official of the institution.
  • Proposals must include a detailed budget using the prescribed format, following cost standards under Minister of Finance and BRIN regulations, including applicable taxes.
  • Curriculum vitae of the PI and all team members must be included using the provided format.
  • All required documents must be complete, original, and submitted on time.
  • Prior to the project implementation, the PI must conduct a research ethics clearance done through the Research Ethical Clearance information system https://klirensetik.brin.go.id/
