The 10th SEA–Europe Joint Funding Scheme (JFS) Call 2025 offers a strategic platform for Indonesian researchers to engage in transnational scientific collaboration with partners across Southeast Asia and Europe. This call supports high-impact, interdisciplinary research proposals under two thematic areas: New Materials and Green Transition and Climate Resilient, Smart Agriculture using AI & IoT. Both topics are aligned with global priorities on sustainability, digital innovation, and climate adaptation, encouraging researchers to jointly address pressing scientific and societal challenges through advanced technologies and collaborative research excellence.
The thematic area on New Materials and Green Transition focuses on the development, design, and application of advanced functional materials to support sustainable technological innovations. Research may include thermoelectric and magnetic materials for energy conversion and cooling systems; nanomaterials and engineered surfaces for electronics, photonics, and biomedical applications; bio-based and hybrid materials inspired by natural structures; and scalable synthesis, fabrication, and modelling techniques to enable next-generation materials development. Proposals are encouraged to explore cross-disciplinary approaches that bridge materials science with energy technologies, environmental applications, and industrial sustainability.
The thematic area on Climate Resilient, Smart Agriculture using AI & IoT addresses the growing challenges posed by climate variability to agricultural systems. This topic supports integrative research that brings together agricultural sciences, climate science, computer science, and environmental studies to develop intelligent and adaptive farming solutions. Research may involve AI- and IoT-enabled precision agriculture, machine learning–based climate modelling, sensor networks for monitoring soil, water, and crop conditions, drones and robotics for field operations, biodiversity and land-use assessments, and policy or socioeconomic studies to ensure sustainable adoption. Proposals are encouraged to combine technological innovation with environmental and social perspectives to create resilient and scalable agri-food systems.
BRIN participates in both thematic areas and provides national funding to support eligible Indonesian researchers joining qualified JFS consortia. Participation in this call enables Indonesian research teams to strengthen international cooperation, integrate advanced scientific approaches, and contribute to impactful, sustainable solutions across the ASEAN–EU research landscape.
BRIN provides a total funding commitment of IDR 30,000,000,000, with a maximum of IDR 3,000,000,000 per project for durations of up to three years, in accordance with the National Regulations for JFS Call-10th 2025. BRIN may support up to five (5) Indonesian-led projects per thematic area, depending on evaluation results and available budget.
The call opens on 1 December 2025 and closes on 31 March 2026.
